2017 Pinot Noir Mendocino Co

91 points, The Wine Enthusiast

A one time blend in between our 2016 and 2018 Anderson Valley offerings.   This Pinot Noir is ready to drink with tons of red and black fruits, spice box, forest floor, a supple palate, and a long, smooth finish.    Fashauer Vyd 20%, Signal Ridge Vdy 6.66%, Romani Vyd 26.66%, Mariah Vyd 13.33%, Arthur Rue Vyd 6.66%, Docker Hill  Vyd 26.66%.   *An Ali "from the Valley" favorite*

2017 Pinot Gris 'Filigreen Farm' , Anderson Valley

Filigreen Farm is a biodynamic farm in the heart of the Anderson Valley that not only produces some of the best Pinot Gris grapes in California, but the best produce, olive oil, nuts, and other delicious treats from Mother Nature.   Ali and Andy coax the herbal and minty character out of this wine so rarely found in Pinot Gris, but don’t skimp on the viscosity and richness that make Anderson Valley the bees knees for Alsatian varietals.   Close your eyes… Think of green… orange… tea leaves… papaya…. basil.    Andy says you can age this for another 4-5 years.   Pair with antipasto, poached or grilled chicken and fish, mussels, salad, salmon, scallops, mildly spicy food and veggies

2016 Zinfandel 'Fashauer Vyd' Anderson Valley

92 points, The Wine Enthusiast

This vineyard just borders the Mendocino Ridge appellation which consists of ridge-top areas above 1200 feet and corresponds to the fogline.  It’s the extra elevation that gives the Fashauer vines the necessary sunlight to ripen Zinfandel in the cool climate.  If you’re sick of overly alcoholic, Robitussin-type fruit bombs, then as my guitar says, “Don’t Fret!”

This is leaner and fresher than its counterparts in warmer appellations and almost brings you back to the Italian heritage of Zin’s parents, the Primitivo variety.   We’re talking bright red fruits of strawberry, wild berries, red flowers, and a hint of herbs.   The palate is fresh and intense with tons of acidity -- yes, acidity --  and can rock with all the things!  Pasta with meat sauce, strong cheeses, duck, lamb, spicy Mexican dishes, and even turkey.
