2014 Pinot Noir 'Docker Hill Vyd', Mendocino (Comptche)
Winemaker's notes:
100% Cane pruned. 25% Whole Cluster fermentation. Fermented in small, open-top vessels. 50% 1yr old French, 50% neutral French oak. Aged for two years. Bottled in 2016.
Bright, all red, red, red… Nose is riper, but all red fruit. Alpine strawberry, potpourri spice box, cedar, Indian baking spices, allspice, clove. On the palate, sweet on the entry, smooth mouthfeel, also strawberry jam over yogurt. Long - sweet fruit - finish.
Out of all of our Pinots, this is the best non-food wine. You could buy a case of this for Thanksgiving. It would go with football, turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, maple-glazed ham, roasted brussels, grape and marshmallow salad.
